In the crit of the 40 hours project today I was told that the string creations I made were almost scientific. The effects that are put on top of the fast section project made it feel like molecules or even cells. This is interestung to me as the maps recording of movement within the fast porject are intimate and relate to the body. They suggested that these could be put larger scale to make them even more impactful. In comparison my tutor suggested that the experimental fast part of the project could be turned into a consultina book. This way you could flick through and watch all of the journeys develop. For the slow part of the protect she suggested that I make sculptures out of it. Make it even physical in a room. I thought this was a good idea and I could potentially even make the room dark, where the viewer may have to follow the trying to find their way through. Today we were looking into societal structures and parallel universes. I responded well to the idea of having a world which is internally a utopia and in reality a dystopia. I did find it challenging to find out so much information at once however I have been thinking into possibly using something that links to water. I drew up some ideas surrounding being trapped in a bubble or even a fish tank. I will need to think more about how I could use this as something in the universe. However, I worry that this is going too far from my own life. The idea of using water came from seeing the visuals of Joshua Oppenheimer, 'The Act of Killing'. The giant fish punctuated by the people in pink entering its mouth looked so surreal and interesting. I also liked the work of Sister Corita Kent, 1918 - 1986. This manafesto which highlights the word 'work' inspired me as I feel a world where you are constantly forced to work overdrive would be interesting.
